Karate Kid: Legends

Short Kings! Ben Wang is only 5’5″ and he plays Li Fong, a kid living with the memory of being a total pussy when his brother got jumped. Part of the plot is Li Fong teaches Pacey from Dawson’s Creek Kung Fu to win a boxing match. Yeah…(if he wanted to win he should haveContinue reading “Karate Kid: Legends”

Final Destination: Bloodlines

No spoilers! The perfect “Must-See” picture to kick off this next blockbuster summer. The deaths in this film are not wasted–like an assassin with a limited amount of bullets. Every gruesome death is deliberate and hits the mark.  I saw this pic with my bff Glory in IMAX and at one point a woman inContinue reading “Final Destination: Bloodlines”

No Country for Old Men (2007)

I will preface this by saying I do not like any of the films by the Coen Brothers. Men with bad haircuts looking to kill other men with bad haircuts. Tommy Lee Jones has no range so he just played himself. Atonement and Juno were better films. One of those should have won Best PictureContinue reading “No Country for Old Men (2007)”

The Wolf Man (2025)

Another recent horror movie taking place in Oregon, Longlegs (2024) being the other one I saw a few months ago.  I am happy that more writers are appreciating what Oregon has to offer in terms of spookiness. I felt like this movie was more cautionary tale and mystery, rather than horror. Some good jump scaresContinue reading “The Wolf Man (2025)”

New York-themed Night

It’s Winter Solstice! It is Saturday, December 21–the longest night of the year. I didn’t have plans and decided to see a movie. Cinema 21 was showing The Godfather, Part II. Went for pizza at Escape From New York Pizza on NW 23rd before the movie. The weather is perfect outside–wet but not currently raining.Continue reading “New York-themed Night”

About Last Night

Yes, I am stealing the episode title from an election episode of South Park–deal with it. I felt hopeful, half the country did. Then we lost. We have manners and college degrees so we never claimed the other side stole it from us. I am more excited than ever for the new President of Mexico,Continue reading “About Last Night”
