Another Original Horror! Blumhouse Productions has done it again.
On the way to the movies, I was listening to Celine Dion and other artists. And they sounded wonderful. Listening to those songs after this movie made all the lyrics of those songs almost…sinnister.
The trailer gives it away so I am not spoiling anything about the plot. Guy makes wish about Girl. Wish comes true in the scariest way possible.
What I loved/hated about the character is how the guy would not accept the fact that he is responsible for everything that goes horribly wrong. What an asshole.
Does the Academy Awards give out awards for lighting? This movie deserves one. The lighting choices reminded me of Hereditary. What the writer/director did making a lot of scenes so creepy with just a lack of lighting was amazing.
Modern Horrors have cranked up in the past few years as far as writing goes. This could certainly be a contender for Best Original Screenplay. If Hollywood makes more of these original films, and less Marvel* crack, they will redeem themselves.
*I enjoy the DC movies and they win Oscars so Hollywood can keep making those.
