For 2026, I am swearing off bad sex.

Queen Elizabeth I
If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why? This woman to me represents the ultimate power in the most turbulent of times. She knew William Shakespeare, kicked her former brother-in-law’s ass (Spanish Armada) and made England the richest country in Europe. On top of that, she brought peace between ProtestantsContinue reading “Queen Elizabeth I”
Three Years From Now
What will your life be like in three years? Career: I will have my own law firm in North Portland, right next to King Burrito and the art supply store. I will specialize in landlord-tenant law, immigration, and do some criminal law. Family: A few munchkins running around. Husband: Give me Liberty or Give meContinue reading “Three Years From Now”
Can I get a College Do Over?
Is there an age or year of your life you would re-live? I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until immediately before law school. I just thought I was a terrible student. Knowing what I know now, I would have gotten diagnosed earlier, got medicated, and then buckled down. Plus I would not have taken on aContinue reading “Can I get a College Do Over?”
Queen Elizabeth and Salem Witch Trials
What historical event fascinates you the most? I was obsessed with learning about two things in the 7th grade: The Salem Witch Trials and everything about Queen Elizabeth I. Philip of Spain really thought he could go up against his former sister-in-law and invade England with his lame Armada. Nope! I wish I could goContinue reading “Queen Elizabeth and Salem Witch Trials”
My Mother/ Mi Madre
Describe a family member. I can’t capture my mother’s personality in one post so fyi. My mother is a social butterfly and demands the attention of everyone in the room. She would capture your ear at a party because she can do a really incredible Mexican Grito (scream). I’ve never tried. The first thing myContinue reading “My Mother/ Mi Madre”
On Second Watch: The Fog (2005)
This film came out 20 years ago and I thought it was crap. This movie was going to launch Smallville’s Tom Welling to uber stardom but the box office wouldn’t play along. It made only less than $30M domestically on an $18M budget. Rotten Tomatoes gave it only 4% (what?!?!?!!!). On today’s rewatch I realizedContinue reading “On Second Watch: The Fog (2005)”
If I Lost it All
What would you do if you lost all your possessions? If I lost all my stuff I would start the painstaking work of having to replace it all. Perhaps I would appreciate the moment of life as an involuntary minimalist and own less.
Best Advice Received (in Law School)
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Professor Thomas Horton (Rest in Peace) told me once, “You’re an ‘A’ student that does ‘C’ work.” It was the nicest thing anyone said to me in law school. He recognized that I had brains but I needed to put in the work to show that.
The Long Walk
I read that this was Stephen King’s first novel, but I thought Carrie was his first novel. Who knows. This movie is about violence and being desensitized. It came out mere days after CK died. I recommend watching this movie.
