I had high hopes. Disappointed.

How I Escape
How do you relax? I don’t relax–I escape. I escape my cats by going to the movies. I escape my job by going home. I escape friends by not telling them my plans. I escape family by not calling. I escape studying by doing anything else. I escape Portland by flying somewhere else. I escapeContinue reading “How I Escape”
Prompt: What I Watched
What TV shows did you watch as a kid? My television viewing habits were vast. I watched Andy Griffith win case after case on Matlock, I explored the universe with Star Trek, I accepted that life sucked from The Bundys on Married with Children and Roseanne, and I fell in love with Kevin Arnold onContinue reading “Prompt: What I Watched”
My name
Where did your name come from? My father gave me the name Erica. Erica is the feminine version of Eric, it means Ruler of All Things. I don’t think he knew that when he picked it. There are a few Ericas in my family. My last name is Martinez. Ez means “son of” and firstContinue reading “My name”
Weapons
OMG what a movie!!! It’s scary, it’s got some funny scenes, it’s absolutely everything. If you have seen Barbarian you will notice some similarities, including a cameo. Dare I say it, it reminded me of Long Legs as well. Josh Brolin is excellent, Garner shines, the whole cast blew it away. Update: I have seenContinue reading “Weapons”
Let’s Make Halloween a Federal Holiday
I will vote for whichever candidate promises to make Halloween and the day after federal holidays. I can be a one-issue voter, no problem. This would get a lot of voters.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)
After the first hour I honestly had no idea who the killer was. Thank goodness! The killer was stealthy and that made the killer way scarier. Not flooded in nostalgia but enough callbacks to the OG. It was great to see the former cast reprise their traumas. Be sure to stay after the credits forContinue reading “I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)”
Sinners (2025)
A vampire movie with style.
Superman (2025)
Small spoiler, more of a character analysis. Jimmy Olsen’s storyline in this movie was written for the fans that are incels. No way in the 7 parts of hell is a woman of a caliber that bags Lex Luthor interested in Jimmy Olsen. That would make Jimmy Olsen and Lex Luthor equal. Not possible. AndContinue reading “Superman (2025)”
28 Years Later
This film has a lot of heart. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Danny Boyle–the man behind Slumdog Millionaire. First film had grit and this one is more refined. The casting was awesome, very precise. I can’t say much without giving something away so I will end with this–Who the Fuck is Jimmy?!
