About Last Night

Yes, I am stealing the episode title from an election episode of South Park–deal with it.

I felt hopeful, half the country did. Then we lost. We have manners and college degrees so we never claimed the other side stole it from us.

I am more excited than ever for the new President of Mexico, a new era for my parent’s homeland. Never did I expect Mexico to have a female president before the United States, but that’s where voters wanted us.

Good luck to everyone. Good luck to the Latinos, Palestinians, Muslims, LGBTQ+, women in child-bearing years that live in red states, Ukrainians, people who make a little bit of money, people who have no money, professionals with student loans, parents who want smart kids, people who are not white, people with foreign-sounding names, people with accents, people who don’t speak English, legal immigrants, illegal immigrants, Gingers who don’t have souls, and lastly good luck to everyone who takes an oath soon to become US Citizens. I hope you didn’t work so hard to get to this point and not have it matter.

Congratulations again to Claudia Sheinbaum, the new President of Mexico. Todo es posible, en Mexico.
