Just switching to a bigger airport (preferably a hub) can save you $$$. Look at price estimates on Hopper (app). Same dates. Different outbound location.
Choosing to fly out of Chicago instead of Sioux Falls saves me $1400 for the best flight. No joke. Even flying out of Portland on the West Coast (hours away, in the wrong direction!) still saves me $1200.
