Valentine’s Day…decisions decisions

Dinner, chocolates and a movie, am I right? But what to watch? You can go out and see MARRY ME, the latest holiday obligatory piece of crap from Hollywood, or see something new…or old. Just not that.

Granted, I have not seen the movie. But I don’t need to see a movie to know it’s crap. The trailer proves it! Jenny from the Block cannot act. You know it, I know it, and her agent is in denial. But work is work and Hollywood ran out of ideas right around… the time Tobey Maguire played Spiderman.

This film is JLo, one of the Wilson’s, the plot of Notting Hill cranked to the max of no-way-in-hell-could-this-ever-happen, add in kids (because nothing says “romance” without some wholesomeness, eww) and dancing and singing (again, she’s JLo) and throw them all together in a blender for a few minutes. Then unplug that blender, throw it on the ground, stomp on it, try to save what has spewed with a dustpan and try to pour it into a glass. That is MARRY ME.

So what else is there? Watch Ex Machina, Fatal Attraction, Moonlight, Brokeback Mountain, The Virgin Suicides, Romeo+Juliet, anything with Marilyn Monroe, or my personal favorite, Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN. Not all of these are “romantic” films but I recommend finding the beauty in the bittersweet.
