Going Home and Returning to Covid in the Classroom

If this happened anywhere else, people would be vigilant. Masking up, carrying Lysol in backpacks, wiping down desks between classes. Nah, not here.

This is certainly a state of individualism. Personal Responsibility, who cares about everyone else, blah blah sick and dying. If this were an experiment, I would be one of the people on the outside wearing the lab coat and holding a clipboard. I would say something like “now let’s see how they do when we introduce xyz into their environment.”  For two years in Portland I didn’t catch a cold or the flu because everyone outside my apartment building wore masks. I hated living in SE Portland.

New Year’s Eve 2021.

Ugh, I miss Oregon. I was there for three weeks and everyone had to wear masks. It was wonderful. My Mother doesn’t own a coffeemaker so I would walk to the nearest AM-PM for coffee nearly every day. A lot of good things are happening in my neighborhood. My credit union now has a branch on N. Lombard. Tons of jobs. If I had my car with me I could have spent my days working. The affordable housing apartments my church is building are nearly complete. The plan is that they will be done by May. So excited! I would just like to take this opportunity to mention that I voted with the others for an elevator in the building. You’re welcome.

Returning to Vermillion was a return to individualism. We don’t know the long-term effects of COVID on the vaccinated and unvaccinated and I don’t want to find out. I am soooo thankful for vaccinations, good science and good medicine.
