Netflix Documentary Series
After watching the first two episodes I was driving into work and thinking, ” who would I be if my parents never came here?” I would certainly be skinny, married with children. I wouldn’t be educated. Would I be happier? Maybe.
In the second episode a teen has to make a decision as to whether he wants to stay in the States with his aunt or go home to Guatemala. Staying means his father stays in a detention/processing building. Leaving means his mother would never stop reminding him how his life (and hers in turn) would have been better had he stayed. His life is in limbo and he is left to make the decision that would affect his whole family. It is unfair.
I am hoping the next episodes focus on things getting better.
